This is similar to the trend where tech company are moving away from separating UX and UI designers into calling them Product Designers while claiming things move fast in tech so it doesn't make sense to separate the roles.

In effect, they hire 1 person to do the job of two while only paying them 60% more. Both sides are happy , although I am not sure this is the right approach.
